Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In San Jose, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11:30 am–1:30 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The place has a very nice ambiance and staff are super friendly and efficient. I had the tonkotsu tonkatsu (pork on pork soup!) and the broth was excellent, very nice mouth feel and rich. The pork katsu was nice and crisp. It came with thin noodles and next time I'll think to ask to try the thick ones.

I ate twice. 1st time taste is almost Japanese Jiro ramen. However, 2nd time I felt the ramen become American and Ajinomoto taste…. I know Jiro is Ajinomoto taste, but this time is strongly that. I will not go there again.

Today I was craving soup and since weather is cold here in San Jose at the moment, I decided to eat at Ramen Champ. I ordered the tonkatsu with pork and added chili. Broth was thick and had amazing flavor. Pork was also good and thin noodles were different for me since I usually see thicker ones in ramen, but I liked them. I also got extra noodles thinking it wouldn't be enough but it was enough with the thin noodles so I decided to take them home with the leftover broth. I did feel the thin noodles were a little hard but that was no big deal. After some time in the broth, they felt softer. I let the second batch of noodles soak in broth as well and they also felt hard. I will be eating my leftovers for lunch tomorrow so hopefully they get soft. The chili powder they offered me was also a faint taste of spice. A chili sauce would've gave it a better taste. I liked this place overall. I would come back if I visit San Jose again. *update* leftovers were delicious

Came here once maybe about 5 years ago… on accident. I walked in and fell in love with the delicious ramen and warm attentive service. I have yet to find a place who has has better broth and service! 03/03/26 my stay went over closing time and not once did they make me feel uncomfortable, watched or rushed! If you dine in San Jose you know how rare that is! I’d 1000000x recommend this place to friends and family

Been meaning to go for ages off a friend's recommendation and finally did today. I will say that she did hype this place up a lot so did go in with slightly high expectations but overall was fine. Their buta ramen had a good broth and is great for bean sprout enjoyers. Their appetizers are fantastic though and are cheaper during lunch. Overall not in my top five ramen spots in the bay area but still a good ramen restaurant. Pricing wise also they're about the norm locally.
